MEET OUR FOUNDER

Les Hancock, Founder & CEO

Les Hancock brings a real, relatable voice to the work of Safe 2 Speak. Drawing from his own lived experience as a child who “slipped through the cracks,” Les delivers trauma-informed presentations that are honest, approachable, and easy for youth to connect with.

His message is especially focused on boys and young men who may feel pressure to stay silent, “be tough,” or carry shame that does not belong to them. Les helps young people understand that asking for help is not weakness—it is courage.

Through his presentations, Les encourages youth to speak up, identify trusted adults, understand that abuse is never their fault, and know where to find safe support. Safe 2 Speak welcomes all youth while intentionally working to break the stigma that can prevent boys and young men from sharing what happened to them.

“I was a kid who slipped through the cracks. Safe 2 Speak exists so more young people—especially boys who feel pressure to stay silent—know they are not alone, they are not to blame, and help is available.” -Les Hancock

Safe 2 Speak: Finding Your Voice

Safe 2 Speak presentations offer a respectful, trauma-informed conversation about safety, silence, shame, and speaking up. Les Hancock uses lived experience to help youth feel seen without requiring anyone to share their own story.

Students will leave with a clearer understanding of:

  • Abuse is never the victim’s fault.

  • Shame belongs to the person who caused harm—not the survivor.

  • Boys and young men deserve to be heard, believed, and supported.

  • It is okay to speak to a trusted adult, counselor, advocate, or other safe person.

  • Speaking up can happen in their own time and in the way that feels safest to them.

  • Help and support are available.
